Our periodontal maintenance program is more
than regular dental cleaning. We constantly monitor
the stability of the gums and the susceptibility
to recurrence of disease. Periodontal disease
is an inherited trait in most instances and therefore
never really goes away. A susceptible individual
is always susceptible. We can, however, suppress
the disease to the point where you wouldn’t
know a person had gum disease.
We use digital photographs, digital x-rays,
perio probings and clinical evaluations to monitor
your gums and keep them in top shape. When the
gums show signs of regression, we immediately
institute therapy to correct the situation. Therapy
may include medications, microscopic cleaning
with perioscopy, or sometimes identifying contributing
factors such as diabetes or certain classes of
drugs that cause gum disease.
